The Filling Station

For London Festival of Architecture 2010 815 Agency teamed up with Crystal Bennes of SALON London to put on a feast for 100 people. The venue was a disused petrol station on London's Clerkenwell Road, which 815 Agency and Crystal Bennes won permission to use after several months of persuasion. The petrol station was subsequently for the Cineroleum project

The idea of the feast was informed by the areas long-standing relationship with food, from the sixteenth-century feasts of the Order of St John to modern day associations with Smithfield Market.

The food was served out of, and on top of, a custom made 10m table made from 420 polystyrene boxes (generously sponsored by the British Plastics Federation) with acrylic tops.

Bompas and Parr supplied a spectacular ether-laced Techron Trifle and Chapel Down Wines provided the drinks, with oysters and stout from Hix Oyster and Chop House. More food came from Caravan, The Modern Pantry, St John, Bea's of Bloomsbury and The Ginger Pig.
